about Me
I have been practicing mental health counseling for over 13 years. I hold licenses in Texas for Professional Counseling as well as Chemical Dependency Counseling. My entire career has been in the helping professions, working with non-profits and as a professional classical musician. I was drawn to the field of counseling after my move from Atlanta, Georgia to Texas. Having grown up in a very unstable and chaotic household with family issues related to addiction, mental illness, and trauma, I sought counseling and was able to understand the issues in my nuclear family, as well as how those issues affected me personally.
I have sought out career opportunities where I have worked closely with children in the juvenile justice system as well as adults in the legal system. Working at a hospital in an Intensive Outpatient Program, I was able to help adult clients with co-occurring disorders, such as addiction and untreated mental illnesses.
In private practice, my passions are working with adolescents, individuals, families, and addictions. After the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, I worked on-site with other clinicians to start the first mental health clinic in Uvalde for survivors, community members, and families of the deceased. I also volunteer with the Austin Police Department as a member of their victim services team, providing counseling services to victims of violent crime.
I am a mother to an eight-year-old boy on the autism spectrum, and I spend every free second at the horse farm where I find serenity and peace in the presence of all animals. Life is not easy. My clients find solace in growth by working through past experiences with solutions we develop together in therapy. Finding a balance in mental health is fluid. Consistent evolution through work and self-challenge is paramount to gain the self-confidence needed to face everyday challenges in your personal and professional relationships. As a clinician, I look forward to joining you on this journey with unconditional positive regard.
